This year, I’ve observed a common trend in the romance genre: the publication of books featuring Christmas-themed romance plots. Upon reflection, I can’t think of a similar trend associated with the Jewish New Year or any other Jewish holiday.

“How the Grump Saved Christmas” is the perfect example of these Christmas romance genre books.

Elias Stonehart is eager to secure the promotion to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at his corporation. For years, he has been dedicated to advancing to a senior position and achieving financial success, but this has come at the personal cost of distancing himself from his family and sacrificing romantic relationships. There is only one obstacle in the way of reaching his goal: Cook Farm.

Elias’s corporation wants to acquire Cook Farm, located in Tilicum, a small, forgotten town, to build a data backup center there. However, the owner’s daughter refuses to sell the farm.

Elias knows Isabel Cook. Years ago, before he became an aggressive tech mogul, he and Isabel were a loving couple preparing to get married.

A lot of time has passed since then, and Elias hasn’t spoken to Isabel in years. After they finished high school, he turned his back on her, moved to the big city, and they haven’t communicated since. Elias thinks he understands what he needs to do to persuade her to sell the farm.

Isabel Cook is determined to save her family farm. Every winter, Cook Farm transforms into a magical Christmas village, providing the trees to the town’s residents. Despite facing financial difficulties, Isabel and her father work long hours to keep the farm running. However, she remains resolute and refuses to sell the farm to a corporation.

Then Elias returns to Isabel’s life.

Elias and Isabel’s meeting is charged with anger, frustration, and a lingering love beneath the surface.

The story alternates between Elias and Isabel’s perspectives, revisiting their shared past to deepen Elias’s character, although less so for Isabel. Alongside their narrative, the stories of Cole, Alice, and Maddie also unfold.

Alice is Elias’s assistant and a single mother raising Maddie, who has a physical disability. The story mainly revolves around Elias, but Alice frequently appears, which is beneficial because her character is well-developed.

Despite its silly title, (Really? Saved Christmas), is an enjoyable Christmas-themed book set against the backdrop of the approaching holiday season, where the protagonists achieve their Happily Ever After (HEA).
