יסמין, אדריכלית מצליחה ורווקה בת 40, חיה על פי משוואה פשוטה: האחר אינו אחריותי. זוגיות? ילדים? התפשרות? תודה, אבל לא. היא סובייקט־יחיד, קונסטרוקציה אדריכלית מושלמת בעיני עצמה, שרואה בזוגות אחרים הדגמה חיה לטעויות תכנוניות.
ואז מגיע דניאל. גרוש פעמיים, שני ילדים, לב רחב יותר מתכנית מתאר. מפגש משטרתי מקרי מייצר סדק ראשון בקיר. ממנו מתחיל תהליך חשיפת שכבות, כמו תכנית בניין שמתפרקת לפרטים: יסודות, חוזק חומרים, עומסים רגשיים, והפער בין תיאוריה יפה למציאות שמסרבת להתאים למודל.
הספר כתוב היטב. אפילו מצוין ברובו. יסמין דמות מרתקת, מרגיזה, כריזמטית ומורכבת; עוף מוזר שהקורא רוצה להמשיך להתבונן בו גם כשהוא רוצה לצעוק לה: די כבר, זה לא עובד כך בעולם האמיתי. הקריינות נהדרת, הכתיבה מלוטשת, והמסע פנימי אמיץ.
ואז מגיע הסוף. ושם, לצערי, משהו מתמוטט. הבחירה בסיום נתפסת כתחכום לשם התחכמות. ברגע שבו צריך היה אומץ, יש חצי־טון של התחמקות. כמו פרויקט יוקרה שהחל עם שלד פלדה ונחתם בקיר גבס רועד. התחושה היא של צעד אחורה, פחד מלהכריע, והשארת הקורא באמבטיה מטפורית של מים פושרים במקום לסגור את הברז.
ועדיין, זה ספר טוב. כתוב היטב, עשיר מחשבה, מדויק רגשית. רק שסיום מהוסס גרם לי להוריד שתי קומות מהדירוג. היו שם יסודות לארבעה כוכבים. בפועל, שלושה. מוצדק.

What begins as a professional encounter develops into a slow dismantling of Yasmin’s worldview, layer by architectural layer. The novel masterfully exposes her defenses, ambitions, and blind spots, revealing a woman who is brilliant, self-contained, and emotionally hazardous to herself and others.
The writing is sharp, the structure elegant, and Yasmin is the kind of character you want to observe even while wanting to shake her. But then comes the ending, and it falters. Where clarity and bravery were needed, the narrative retreats into ambiguity. It feels less like nuance and more like hesitation, leaving a faint note of disappointment in an otherwise impressive work.
A strong novel with a frustrating final decision; three stars where four were within reach.
