יש ספרים שפשוט מצליחים לשלב בין מתח, ריגול ורומנטיקה ולספק חוויית קריאה כיפית, קלילה ומשעשעת. זהות בבלונד הוא בדיוק כזה.
גיבורת הסיפור מתעוררת באמצע רחוב פריזאי, חבולה ומבולבלת, בלי שם, בלי זיכרון, בלי שום מסמך או חפץ מזהה מלבד ליפסטיק שקוף וכרטיס שנראה כמו מפתח לחדר במלון. ברגעים הראשונים היא אפילו מנסה לעשות מלאכי שלג על המדרכה, ורגע אחרי זה הגבר הכי סקסי ועצבני שהיא פגשה צורח עליה לברוח. מהר מאוד מתברר שהעולם סביבה מסוכן בהרבה ממה שהיה נדמה לה.
בלית ברירה היא נאלצת להאמין לחתיך הזועם שמספר לה שיש לה אחות תאומה, סוכנת חשאית מתוחכמת נמלטת. באותה הנשימה, הוא גם אומר לה שהיא חייבת לסמוך עליו כי המאפיה הרוסית, סוכני CIA וגם נציגים של המוסד בטוחים שהיא היא אותה אחות והם כולם רודפים אחריה. מהנקודה הזו הספר הופך לרכבת הרים משוגעת: זינוקים מגשרים ומרכבות נוסעות, קפיצות מספינות, מרדפים בפסגות הרים, וכל זה תוך כדי פינג פונג מילולי שנון עם הסוכן העצבני (שקוראים לו סוייר) והומור פרוע שמחזיק את הקצב ואת הקסם.
הקסם הגדול של הספר טמון בשילוב: מצד אחד הוא לא לוקח את עצמו ברצינות יתרה, יש בו קלילות משעשעת וקריצות קומיות; מצד שני, הוא שומר על מתח רציף ועל סצנות אקשן שכתובות היטב. זואי היא דמות שקל לאהוב, פגיעה אבל גם עקשנית, נגררת אל תוך עולם שלא ביקשה אך מצליחה לעמוד בקצב. והגבר שמלווה אותה, סוייר הזועף והחתיך, מספק את הטוויסט הרומנטי המדויק.
זהות בבלונד הוא החלק הראשון בסידרה שיש לקוות שתתפתח היטב. הוא מסתיים בקליף האגר כשאלכס, התאומה הסוררת, מופיעה ומבקשת עזרה.
הספר הוא לא עוד רומן רומנטי שגרתי. זה מותחן־קומי שמחזיר את חדוות הקריאה, כזה שלא נותן לך לנשום מרוב ריצה ומרדפים, ובמקביל גורם לך לצחוק בקול רם. בשבילי זה היה אחד הספרים הכי מהנים בז’אנר בשנים האחרונות.

In her daze, she even tries to make snow angels on the pavement, only to have the angriest (and sexiest) man she has ever seen yell at her to run. Very quickly, she realizes the world around her is far more dangerous than she could have imagined.
Reluctantly, she has to trust the furious, rugged stranger who insists she has a twin sister, a highly skilled spy on the run. In the same breath, he warns her that the Russian mafia, the CIA, and even Mossad agents are all convinced she is her twin and they are after her. From that moment, the book becomes a wild rollercoaster, leaping from trains and bridges, escaping from ships, and sprinting across mountaintops. All of this is woven together with razor-sharp banter and laugh-out-loud humor between the heroine, Zoe, and the grumpy yet magnetic agent Sawyer.
The magic of this novel lies in its balance. On the one hand, it never takes itself too seriously, embracing a playful and comedic tone. On the other hand, it delivers genuine tension, high-stakes action, and well-written fight sequences. Zoe is a protagonist readers will instantly love, vulnerable yet stubborn, out of her depth yet determined to keep up. And Sawyer, the brooding, hotheaded agent, provides the perfect romantic twist.
The Blonde Identity is the first installment in what promises to be a highly entertaining series. It ends on a cliffhanger, with Zoe’s twin sister Alex finally appearing and asking for help. This is not just another romance novel; it’s a rom-com thriller that revives the sheer joy of reading. It will make you laugh, keep you on the edge of your seat, and leave you craving more. For me, it was one of the most delightful reads in the genre in recent years.
