עוד ספר מוצלח בסידרת סוזן ריילנד, העורכת הספרותית שמפענחת פשעים מבית אנתוני הורביץ.
בדומה לספר הראשון בסידרה, גם בספר הזה, מדובר בעלילה בתוך עלילה כאשר הסופר מגיש לקורא עוד מעלילות אטיקוס פונד, הבלש המהולל של אלן קונווי.
אלן קונווי ממשיך לייצר סערות, למרות שכבר בתחילת הספר הקודם הוא עבר מן העולם.
לאחר אירועי הספר הקודם, סוזן ריילנד עוברת עם בן זוגה לכרתים והם מנהלים בית מלון בוטיק משפחתי. אבל, חייה של סוזן לא מתנהלים באופן שדמיינה שיתנהלו והיא מתגעגעת ללונדון ולעריכת ספרים.
כאשר בני הזוג טרהנה מציעים לה לחקור את היעלמותה של בתם, סיסלי, וקושרים את ההיעלמות הזו לספר של קונווי ולרצח שבוצע לפני 8 שנים בבית מלון קטן ומצליח בסאפוק, סוזן מסכימה לקחת את העבודה שהם מציעים לה והיא יוצאת לאנגליה במטרה לנסות ולגלות מה קרה לסיסלי.
סוזן מגיעה לבית המלון בסאפוק וזוכה לקבלת פנים צוננת. היא גם צריכה להיזכר בעלילת הספר של קונווי, שתיאר פיענוח רצח של שחקנית קולנוע מפורסמת בבית מלון קטן.
העלילה מעניינת ובעיקר אהבתי את הסיפור של אטיקוס פונד, למרות שהתרת הפרשייה היתה הזויה במידה לא מעטה. ממש גרמה לי לגלגל עינייים מהפתרון המגוחך.
יחד עם זאת הפרשייה כתובה באופן מרתק ומאוד הזכירה לי את הסיגנון של אגתה כריסטי.
גם העלילה הראשית מעניינת, והדמויות שריילנד פוגשת במהלך החקירה שהיא מבצעת והסיפורים מאחוריהם מרתקים. אני ממש מקווה שיהיה עוד ספר בסידרה.

Anthony Hurwitz's second book in the Susan Ryland series, where the literary editor solves crimes, is as good as the first one.
Similar to the first book, this book also offers the reader a plot within a plot when the author presents more actions of Atticus Pond, Alan Conway's famous detective.
Alan Conway continues to create storms, even though he passed away at the beginning of the previous book.
After the events of the previous book, Susan Ryland moves with her partner to Crete, where they run a family boutique hotel. But Susan's life is different than planned, and she misses London and editing books.
When the Tarhanas offer her to investigate their daughter's disappearance, Cicely, and link this disappearance to Conway's book and the murder eight years ago in a small and successful hotel in Suffolk, Susan agrees to take the job they offer her. She goes to England to try and find out what happened to Cicely.
Upon arriving at the Suffolk Hotel, Susan receives a chilly reception. It may be wise for her to remember the plot of Conway's novel, which details the investigation of a renowned actress' murder at a similar small hotel.
I enjoyed the engaging plot of the book, especially Atticus Pond's storyline. However, I found the resolution of the conflict far-fetched, which made me roll my eyes in disbelief. The writing style of the episode was captivating and reminded me of Agatha Christie's signature style. The intriguing main plot and the captivating characters Ryland encounters during her investigation are fascinating. The stories behind them were equally enthralling, leaving me eagerly anticipating another book in the series.
