אדי, בלה ופלו הוא ספר ילדים תמים וקליל על אדי, ילד שדודו זוכה בעשרה מיליון יורו בלוטו. במקום לעשות עם הכסף משהו סביר, כמו להפקיד אותו בבנק, הדוד מחליט לקחת את הכסף במזומן ולצאת עם אדי לטיול בפריז. אל המסע מצטרפות גם בלה הכלבה ופלו, חברתו של אדי לספסל הלימודים. מכאן מתפתחת הרפתקה צפויה למדי, עם גנבים, מבוגרים נאיביים וילדים שמבינים את המצב טוב יותר מכל מי שאמור להיות אחראי.
מה שצריך לדעת
ספר ילדים קליל של אינגה מול על אדי, דוד שזוכה בלוטו בעשרה מיליון יורו, בלה הכלבה ופלו, שיוצאים להרפתקה בפריז עם יותר מדי מזומן ופחות מדי שיקול דעת.
לילדים שאוהבים הרפתקאות קלילות, כלבים, מסעות, גנבים לא מפחידים מדי, וסיפורים שבהם הילדים מבינים את המצב טוב יותר מהמבוגרים.
התמימות, הקצב, המסע לפריז והרעיון הבסיסי החביב של הרפתקה עם ילד, כלבה וחברה שמנסים להסתדר בעולם של מבוגרים נאיביים מדי.
העלילה צפויה מאוד, המבוגרים מתנהגים באופן כמעט מופרך, והספר לא מעמיק ברובד המעניין יותר של ילדים שחיים בלי הורים ממש בתמונה.
כל המהלכים העלילתיים בספר ברורים מאוד. הדוד נופל בפח של בחורה יפה שרוצה לצאת איתו, מסתובב בפריז עם עשרה מיליון יורו במזוודה, ומתנהג באופן שקשה לקרוא לו נאיבי. דמותו מעוצבת כך שהוא נראה כמבוגר שנכתב כדי שהילדים ייראו חכמים לידו. זה מנגנון מוכר בספרי ילדים, ולפעמים הוא עובד מצוין. בספר הזה הוא עובד בעיקר ברמת החביבות: יש קצב, יש מסע, יש כלבה, יש סכנה לא באמת מסוכנת, ויש סוף שבו הכול מסתדר.
דווקא ברקע העלילה מופיע צל של עומק. אדי חי אצל דודו, ופלו חיה אצל הדודות שלה. ההורים אינם ממש בתמונה, והספר לא עוצר להסביר למה. זה פרט קטן, אבל הוא מעניק להרפתקה התמימה רובד נוסף.
חבל שהספר לא עושה עם זה הרבה יותר. במקום להעמיק את הבדידות שלהם, את חוסר היציבות או את הקשר שנוצר ביניהם, הוא נשאר בעיקר באזור הבטוח של מסע, גנבים וסוף טוב. מצד שני, זה גם לא ספר שמנסה להיות יותר ממה שהוא.
אדי, בלה ופלו הוא ספר חביב. לא מעבר לזה, אבל גם לא פחות. יש בו תמימות, קצב ורעיון בסיסי נחמד, גם אם הוא נשען על מבוגרים שמתנהגים כאילו מעולם לא פגשו בנק, נוכל או שיקול דעת בסיסי. ספר קטן, נעים, לא מזיק, ובעיקר כזה שמזכיר שלפעמים בספרי ילדים הכלבים והילדים הם היחידים שמבינים מה קורה.

Eddie, Bella and Flo / Inga Moll
Eddie, Bella, and Flo is an innocent and light children’s book about Eddie, a boy whose uncle wins ten million euros in the lottery. Instead of doing something sensible with the money, such as depositing it in a bank, the uncle decides to take the money in cash and go on a trip to Paris with Eddie. Bella the dog and Flo, Eddie’s classmate, join the journey as well. From there, a fairly predictable adventure develops, with thieves, naïve adults, and children who understand the situation better than anyone who is supposed to be responsible.
All the plot moves in the book are very clear. The uncle falls into the trap of a beautiful woman who wants to go out with him, walks around Paris with ten million euros in a suitcase, and behaves in a way that can hardly be called naïve. His character is shaped as the kind of adult written so that the children will look smart next to him. This is a familiar mechanism in children’s books, and sometimes it works very well. In this book, it works mainly on the level of charm: there is pace, there is a journey, there is a dog, there is danger that is not really dangerous, and there is an ending in which everything works out.
In the background of the plot, however, there is a shadow of depth. Eddie lives with his uncle, and Flo lives with her aunts. The parents are not really in the picture, and the book does not stop to explain why. It is a small detail, but it adds another layer to the innocent adventure.
It is a pity that the book does not do much more with it. Instead of deepening their loneliness, their lack of stability, or the bond that forms between them, it remains mostly in the safe territory of a journey, thieves, and a happy ending. On the other hand, this is also not a book that tries to be more than it is.
Eddie, Bella and Flo is a charming book. Not more than that, but not less either. It has innocence, pace, and a nice basic idea, even if it relies on adults who behave as though they have never encountered a bank, a con artist, or basic judgment. It is a small, pleasant, and harmless book, and above all, one that reminds us that sometimes, in children’s books, the dog and the children are the only ones who understand what is really going on.
