הצרות רודפות את אוליביה מרשל. הן סימן ההיכר שלה והיא נושאת אותן כמו לפיד בוער בראש המחנה.

ביש מזל מכה בה חזק כא​שר ביום שבו היא פוטרה, היא מגלה שבן זוגה בוגד בה, והיא מצליחה גם להעלות את כל ביניין המגורים שלה בלהבות.

אוליביה נאלצת לחזור לאומהה. למשך חודש אחד היא מתגוררת עם אחיה, ג'ק והשותף המעצבן והנרגן שלו לדירה, קולין. קולין מירר את חייה במהלך שנות ההתבגרות בהערות קנטרניות. היא לא ששה לגור איתו. אבל אין לה ברירה, אוליביה חייבת למצוא עבודה או שתאלץ לבקש כספים מהוריה, ואת זה היא לא רוצה בשום אופן.

קולין הוא איש עסקים מצליח. הוא אוהב שהכל מסודר ומיושר (שמאלה אם אפשר). המצעים היוקרתיים שלו מכובסים ומגוהצים ומדיפים ניחוחות לבנדר או משהו בסיגנון הזה. המטבח שלו מדוגם ונקי. קרדיות האבק לא זוכות להגיע לסלון שלו. בקיצור החיים שלו הם בדיוק מה שהוא אוהב: שליטה, סדר ודיוק.

עד שאוליביה מגיעה.

קולין תמיד חשב שאוליביה מעצבנת ומגושמת. היא אחותו הקטנה של חברו הטוב והוא אוהב להקניט אותה. היא לא נשארת חייבת. בבלגן שלה, היא הופכת את החיים שלו לגהינום צרוף. עד שהוא מגלה שהחברה האנונימית שלו לשיחות לילה ואז לסקסטינג זו אוליביה.

הכל התחיל בערב שבו קולין שלח הודעת טקסט שבטעות הגיעה לאוליביה. היא עונה לו בשנינות והם ממשיכים להתכתב בהודעות ולפתח חברות ואינטימיות בטקסטים (למרות שהם לא מכירים אחד את השני ולא יודעים את השם אחד של השני. הוא מכנה אותה מיס מיס – דייל, והיא מכנה אותו מיטרס רונג- נמבר).

קולין לא מגלה לאוליביה את האמת. בתחילה הוא מזועזע מהעובדה שהוא מתכתב עם אוליביה. הוא נעלם לה. אחר כך הוא חוזר ואז שוב נעלם. הוא שומר את הסוד בזמן שהוא מתנהל מול אוליביה כקולין.

מיותר לספר איך הדברים יתפתחו בין קולין ואוליביה. זה ברור. הרי מדובר בספר מהז'אנר הרומנטי.

הספר חביב וצפוי מידי.

הסופרת עושה כמה ניסיונות לסבך את המצב, במיוחד מהצד של קולין שלא מתוודה על חטאיו ועוד מרהיב עוז ושולח חבר לפגישה עם אוליביה. אבל הם מקרטעים.

הדמות של קולין היתה נסבלת (למרות שאם ננהג ביושר, הוא שיקר ותמרן את אוליביה לאורך כל הספר. מאידך, הוא היה חמוד בהרבה מובנים. לדוגמא הוא מאוד נרתע לספר לאוליביה שהוא החבר הטלפוני שלה, והוא באמת ניסה להתנתק. הוא דאג לצרכים החומריים שלה כשלא אחיה ולא ההורים שלה למעשה דאגו לבדוק שיש לה לפחות מיטה?!).

לעומתו, הדמות של אוליביה, אלוהים לא. בעיניי, היא דמות בלתי נסבלת. מרושלת, שקרנית לא מוצלחת, בלגניסטית וכל מה שמוציא בן אדם שפוי מהישוב מדעתו.

אחרי שהיא שורפת את בית הדירות שבו היא התגוררה היא מגיעה מדוכאת לאומהה לדירה של ג'ק וקולין. היא מוצאת שם בקבוק וודקה ולא טורחת לשאול אף אחד ופשוט מחסלת אותו. מסתבר שהבקבוק שייך לקולין והוא עלה כמה אלפי דולרים. קולין שמר אותו לאירוע מיוחד (שלא הגיע. ואולי אוליביה היתה האירוע המיוחד והיא פשוט שתתה אותו).
היא משאירה אחריה טינופת ובלגן, במטבח, בסלון ובאמבטיה, שלא לדבר על זה שאחת ליום היא מתגנבת למיטה של קולין (כשהוא לא נמצא) לתפוס תנומה על מצעיו היוקרתיים והרייחנים.

היא לא חושבת שהיא צריכה להתנצל, או להסביר וכל דבר מוקטן אצלה בגיחוך חסר מודעות של ילדה חוכמולוגית שיודעת הכל:

נו אז מסננת הנירוסטה התעקמה? לא נורא אל תהיה קטנוני אקנה לך מסננת פלסטיק היא תשמור לנצח. גם אחרי שתתפגר המסננת שלי עדין תחייה. נו אז שתיתי בקבוק וודקה ששווה כמו משכורת שאני לא מרוויחה? מי הטמבל שקונה בקבוק וודקה בסכום כזה.

וכך הלאה וכך הלאה. בימים שאחרי המעבר שלה היא גם משאירה סיר עם קציצות על האש ויוצאת לקניות. איזה אדם שפוי בדעתו משאיר סיר עם קציצות על האש בזמן שהוא יוצא לקניות אחרי שהוא הפך בניין לאבוקה בוערת? אין לי מושג.

במושגים שלי, אוליביה היא לא סתם מעצבנת ומגושמת. היא כפויית טובה ואדם גס רוח בצורה יוצאת דופן. רוב הזמן לא הוקסמתי ולא גיחכתי ממעלליה.

והיו גם את ההגזמות של הסופרת. לדוגמא : פירסומת בשלטי חוצות לטור בעיתון. באמת? לכל היותר טיזרים ברשתות החברתיות או בטלביזיה, אבל פירסומת ענקית בשלטי חוצות לטור בעיתון מודפס?!! בכלל מי מוכר היום עיתונים מודפסים?

אז כן הספר חביב וצפוי מידי, אבל היו בו יותר מידי דברים שהפריעו לי, בכדי שאהנה ממנו לגמרי.

During this time, she reflects on her teenage years when Colin used to make wry comments. Although she dislikes living with Colin, she has no other option. Olivia must find a job, or she will have to ask her parents for money, which she wants to avoid at all costs.

Colin is a prosperous businessman who has a preference for neatness and alignment. He prefers things to be organized and aligned wherever possible. His luxury linens are washed, ironed, and infused with the fragrance of lavender or something similar. His kitchen is spotless and tidy, and he ensures the living room is free from dust mites. In summary, Colin's life is characterized by control, order, and precision.

Until Olivia arrives.

Colin has always found Olivia annoying and clumsy. She happens to be his best friend's little sister, and he enjoys teasing her. However, she is not obligated to put up with his teasing, and her mess often makes his life difficult. One day, Colin discovers that his anonymous night talk and sexting partner is actually Olivia.

It all began one night when Colin mistakenly sent a text message to Olivia. She responded with wit and humor, and they continued to exchange messages. Over time, they developed a friendship and intimacy through their texts despite not knowing each other's names. Colin called her "Miss Misdial," and she called him "Miters-Wrong Number."

Colin is not honest with Olivia. Initially, he is surprised to find himself corresponding with her. He disappears from her life and then reappears, only to disappear again. While pretending to be Colin in front of Olivia, he keeps the truth hidden.

It's obvious how things will develop between Colin and Olivia since this is a romance novel.

The book is too predictable and saccharine.

The author attempts to complicate the situation, with Colin failing to confess his sins.

Colin's character is somewhat tolerable, although, to be honest, he lies and manipulates Olivia throughout the book. However, he did have some endearing qualities. For instance, he was hesitant to reveal to Olivia that he was her phone boyfriend and genuinely tried to keep his distance. He also ensured that Olivia's basic needs were met, even when he wasn't around. It's worth noting that her brothers, and not her parents, were the ones who checked up on her and made sure she had a proper bed to sleep in.

In contrast, Olivia's character is unbearable. She's sloppy, a terrible liar, and an overall mess, which would drive any sane person insane.

After she burns down the apartment building where she lived, she arrives depressed in Omaha at Jack and Collin's apartment. She finds a bottle of vodka there and doesn't bother to ask anyone; she just drinks all of it. It turns out that the bottle belongs to Colin, and it cost several thousand dollars. Colin saved it for a special occasion (which didn't come. Maybe Olivia was the special occasion, and she just drank it).
She leaves a mess in the kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Additionally, she sneaks into Colin's bed for a nap once a day.

She wears the effortless smile of a smart girl who knows everything and doesn't feel the need to apologize or explain her actions.

So, the stainless steel strainer is bent? It's not a big deal, let's not make a fuss about it. I'll buy you a plastic strainer as a replacement, they last forever.

Also, did I really drink a bottle of vodka that costs as much as a salary I don't earn? Who is the fool that buys such an expensive bottle of vodka?

And so on. In the days following her move, she left a pot of meatballs cooking on the stove and went out to do some shopping. Who in their right mind would leave a pot of meatballs on the stove while going out to buy more, especially after turning a building into a flaming torch? I have no idea.

Olivia is not only annoying and clumsy but also ungrateful and rude. I was not entertained by her actions most of the time.

The writer's exaggerations included advertisements on billboards for a newspaper column, which seems unlikely. While teasers on social media or television are more common, it is hard to imagine a large billboard advertisement for a column in a printed newspaper. Additionally, the question arises – who even buys printed newspapers nowadays?

Although the book is likable, it is too predictable and there are several things that bothered me, which prevented me from fully enjoying it.
