הספר השביעי בסידרת הבלשית אריקה פוסטר מוריד הילוך ולמרות שהוא שומר על איכות הכתיבה המצויינת, העלילה חלשה יותר ולטעמי הסיום חפוז ומחורר.
אריקה פוסטר רכשה בית ישן בשכונת בלאק הית'. כשהיא בדרך מארוחת ערב, צרחה מקפיאת דם מפלחת את הלילה וכשהיא ניגשת למקום שממנו בוקעת הצרחה, היא מוצאת אישה מבובלת וגופת אישה צעירה. הגופה מזוהה כגופתה של ויקי קלארק, שדרנית פודקאסט העוסק בפיענוח פשעים אמיתיים .
ויקי, שחקנית כושלת שסיימה את לימודיה בקולג' גולדסמית'. היא לא מוצאת עבודה כשחקנית ולכן החלה לשדר את הפודקסט שלה. היא מתגוררת בבית ששייך לאחותה ולבעלה, שמנהלים מסעדה ולעיתים היא מסייעת שם.

The seventh installment in the Erica Foster detective series slows down. Although it maintains the excellent quality of the writing, the plot could be more substantial. For my taste, the ending is hasty and punchy.
Erica Foster bought an old house in the Black Heath neighborhood. When she is on her way from dinner, a blood-curdling scream pierces the night, and when she approaches the place where the scream is coming from, she finds a battered woman and the body of a young woman. The body is identified as Vicky Clark, a podcast host who deals with deciphering true crimes.
Vicky is a failed actress who graduated from Goldsmiths College. She couldn't find work as an actress, so she started broadcasting her podcast. She lives in a house that belongs to her sister and her husband, who runs a restaurant, and sometimes she helps out there.
The plot gets more complicated when it turns out that Vicky's neighbor is the police chief's schizophrenic brother, carrying the bodies of decapitated cats in the trash bag. Mr. Wakefield is also anti-establishment; he is arrested after he attacks a police officer, but no objective evidence attaches him to the crime scene.
Robert Brindze's writing is excellent. Undoubtedly, he is a prolific writer, and his plots are full of diverse ideas. This time, the story didn't work for me: too many lines of inquiry were open, some didn't reach their potential, and the big problem in my eyes is that the book's ending could be more timely.
The narration in Storital is excellent, and I'm looking forward to the next book.
