It is an exceptional suspense novel featuring a fast-paced crime story. The main character, Erica Foster, is a refreshingly unconventional detective. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a book of this nature so much.
Following a challenging police operation, Erica Foster has resumed her role in the police force. Despite facing disciplinary action, she has recuperated from her injury and is now back in London to investigate the murder of the daughter of a prominent lord.
During the investigation, Erica and the readers are exposed to class disparities and how society treats ordinary people differently. The family's father frequently intervenes in the investigation, causing doubts about Erica's abilities and undermining her position multiple times.
Erica was born in Czechia but later immigrated to England. Despite facing professional and personal risks, she remains determined to fight for her truth and tirelessly pursue an investigation into the case.
I truly enjoyed the plot's character development, pacing, and lack of excessive violence. The author and translator deserve five shining stars for their outstanding work.
