In the past year, Amazon published two collections of romantic novellas before the holidays. The first collection, "The Improbable Meet-Cute," was released before Valentine's Day. I read the first novella in this series and truly enjoyed it. I'm planning to continue reading the remaining novellas.
The second collection, "Under the Mistletoe," was published before Christmas and features novellas by Eli Hazelwood and Tessa Bailey, along with three other authors I haven't read before. This collection allows you to sample each author's style. The fifth and final novella, "Only Santas in the Building" by Alexis Daria, was a pleasant conclusion to the collection.
Ivy Cruz, a comic book illustrator, struggles to meet a tight deadline. It's the holiday season, and someone leaves Christmas tree decorations at her door. Occasionally, she runs into Theo, her upstairs neighbor. She's attracted to him, but the pressure to submit her work on time leaves her little room for anything else.
A neighbor's Santa Claus-themed party allows her to connect with Theo and fulfill her nighttime fantasies.
This one is enjoyable like the fourth novella in the series, Merriment and Mayhem. It is narrated from Ivy's perspective and naturally emphasizes her pressure to submit her work on time.
The collection mainly includes mediocre books. Because these are novellas, the stories often progress too quickly and lack depth in relationships.
