הורדתי את הספר באחד ממבצעי stuff your kindle. מבצעים המציעים לקורא אלפי ספרים חינמיים לקינדל, הורד כפי יכולתך בתנאי שיש לך סבלנות לברור מתוכם את המעניינים ושיש לך זמן לקרוא אותם.
חלק מהספרים , הם ספרים ראשונים בסדרות והם נועדו להיות מעוררי חייך לקוראים שירצו להמשיך לקרוא עוד ספרים בסדרה.
למרות שבד"כ זו יריה באפלה, וחלק מהספרים לא הייתי קוראת אילולי היו מספקים לי עותק חינמי, חלק מהספרים במבצע הזה באמת מוצלחים והספר הזה בינהם.
ויקטור סומרס הוא מעצב שיער בעיירה הקטנה מייפל גרוב. הוא גם דראג קווין שפועל בזהות בדויה ויקי דין. ויקי, שמעולם לא נראתה בעיירה, היא אחת מסופרות ספרי המתח הפופולריות ביותר בארה"ב.
כאשר ראש העיירה של מייפל גרוב נרצח, ויקי דין היא החשודה המיידית והמרכזית. מהר מאוד השריף המסוקס הרפר וולף מצליח לשלול את הקשר של ויקי דין לרצח, אבל אז מסתבר שמישהו מנסה לרצוח את ויקי דין. או מדוייק יותר את ויקטור.
מעבר לביצוע המעצבן ביותר של הדמות של קורי, גם הצרחנות שפשוט הוציאה לי את החשק לנשום, סה"כ ספר תעלומה חביב ביותר עם טוויסט.
ברמה של התעלומה, לא מדובר בתעלומה מסובכת מידי. והשילוב של שריף הרפר וויקטור סומרס כ – ויקי דין – עובד מצויין.
ברמה הפרסונלית, מה הסיכוי שבעיירה אמריקאית קטנה יחיו זה לצד זה: גאי? קווירים ופאנסקסואלים? ושדווקא הקוויר יפגוש בפאנסקסואל ותתפתח בינהם מערכת יחסים ממבט ראשון?
זה היה קצת מוזר וסטטיסטית כמעט לא אפשרי כזה קיבוץ של חריגות דווקא בעיירה הקטנה.

Despite taking a chance on some of the books available in the sale and only reading a few because I received them for free, a few books have been successful—and this particular book is one of them.
Victor Somers is a hair stylist who lives in Maple Grove, a small town. However, Victor also has another identity, under which he operates as a drag queen named Vicky Dean. Despite never being seen in town, Vicky is known as one of America's most popular thriller authors.
When the mayor of Maple Grove is murdered, Vicki Dean is the immediate and prime suspect. Very quickly, the gnarled sheriff, Harper Wolf, manages to rule out Vicky Dean's connection to the murder, but then it turns out that someone is trying to murder Vicky Dean—or, more precisely, Victor.
Besides Cory's irritating performance and excessive screaming, the book is an enjoyable mystery with a surprising twist.
The combination of Sheriff Harper and Victor Somers as Vicky Dean works excellently at the level of mystery.
On a personal level, What are the chances of queer and pansexual individuals living side by side in a small American town and developing a relationship at first sight?
It was statistically almost impossible for such a collection of anomalies to occur in a small town, making it strange.
