החלק השני בסידרת Bellinger Sisters מתמקד באחות הצעירה לבית בלינג'ר, האנה. למרות שהספר הראשון בסידרה זכה להצלחה מסחררת, ולמרות שהספר יצא כבר בשנת 2022, אני מבינה מדוע טרם תורגם.
hook line and sinker הוא בדיוק כמו האנה האחות הצעירה של פייפר: שקט, שקול ורציני ומתקדם לאט. למרות שהיו בו מספר קטעים משעשעים, האווירה הכללית בספר כבדה יותר ופחות כייפית מהאווירה של "זה קרה קיץ אחד".
האנה שומרת על קשר עם פוקס, לאחר שהיא עוזבת את ווסטפורט וחוזרת ללוס אנג'לס. היא מסתמסת איתו כמעט על בסיס יומי ומספרת לו על אכזבותיה ביחס לבמאי המהולל סרגיי, עליו היא דלוקה כבר תקופה ארוכה. הם גם שולחים אחד לשני שיר יומי ולפעמים גם שיר שנועד לעודד או לשמח.

אז זה ספר נחמד, לא מעיף את המח. עד שהם מגיעים לסקס (סוף סוף ברוך השם) הנשמה של הקוראת יוצאת ואז שוב במהרה הם חוזרים להתלבטויות ולבעיות בדימוי העצמי של פוקס.

The second installment of the Bellinger Sisters series centers around Hannah, the younger sister of the Bellinger family. Although it was released in 2022, and the first book in the series was a massive hit in Israel, it hasn't been translated yet. Having read it now, I understand the reason behind it.
"Hook, Line, and Sinker" resembles Piper's younger sister, Hannah. Both are quiet, level-headed, serious, and slow-moving. While the book has a few entertaining parts, it generally has a more somber and less enjoyable tone than "It Happened One Summer."
After leaving Westport and returning to Los Angeles, Hannah stays in touch with Fox. They communicate almost daily, with Hannah sharing her disappointments regarding the famous director Sergey, whom she has had a crush on for a long time. They also exchange a song daily, sometimes choosing a song meant to encourage or uplift each other's mood.
Hannah aspires to be a music editor in a film. When an opportunity arises, she convinces Sergey to film in Westport and to let her assist the music producer.
Hannah returns to Westport with the production team and actors and stays in Fox's apartment.
Fox finds himself at a crossroads. Brendan has offered him the role of captain on his fishing boat, which presents a significant opportunity for him. Additionally, ever since he met Hana, he has been thinking about her non-stop. However, his reputation as a non-committal playboy is on the line. He is struggling to move out of the friend zone with Hana and has trouble communicating his feelings to her. He believes that Hana is interested in a relationship with Sergey and that being with him would not benefit her.
Upon returning to Westport and living with Fox, Hanna begins to feel changes. While she's attracted to Fox, she doesn't agree to a friends-with-benefits relationship.
The book's plot is progressing very slowly and has a lot of unnecessary details that could have been shortened. Much of the book focuses on Fox's issues and self-image, making the story's pacing even slower. Hanna, on the other hand, seems to be just waiting for Fox to reset himself, which makes their relationship feel odd and affects the overall dynamic of the story.
It's a decent book but not exceptional. The reader is finally rewarded with a sex scene, but then the focus shifts back to Fox's self-image and self-esteem issues.
