ספר רומנטי קצר, חמוד וקצת שובב, שמפגיש בין אלכס, בת שלושים, בתו של מיליונר שעובדת כמורה, לבין אלייז'ה אסטור, חבר קרוב של אביה וסגנו בחברה. היא מגיעה לבית האגם המשפחתי להתאוששות אחרי אירוסים שהתפרקו, והוא, בן 45, זה מכבר התגרש אחרי 10 שנות נישואים לא מוצלחים, מגיע גם הוא כדי לנשום אוויר. המפגש ביניהם מתחיל בסיטואציה מביכה והופך במהרה למשחק תפקידים סקסי שמטשטש גבולות.

הספר נוגע בכמה נושאים מעניינים: פער הגילים (שלושים מול ארבעים וחמש), העובדה שהוא חבר של אביה, הדינמיקה של גרוש מול רווקה, העובדה שהגיבורה מתוארת כאישה מלאה עם חמוקיים שופעים. אבל בפועל, קיילה גרוס, לא מעמיקה באף אחד מהם. עיקר המיקוד נמצא בשאלה, איך האבא יקבל את זה.

ופה מגיע החיסרון הגדול מבחינתי: מתוך 160 עמודים, כמעט שליש מוקדש לסצנות סקס. אמנם מדובר בסצנות לוהטות, ואלייז'ה בהחלט מתואר כגבר החלומות, אבל התחושה היא שהכול דחוס מדי. כאילו חייבים להספיק בכל עמוד לנסות עוד תנוחה, עוד מיקום ועוד וריאציה, עד שהסיפור עצמו נדחק הצידה.

אז מה נשאר? רומן קיצי קצר, עם גבר כסף סקסי, קצת הומור והרבה אדים. אבל, לא מעבר לזה.

Silver Foxed / Kayla Grosse

Silver Foxed is a short, cute and slightly playful romance that brings together Alex, a thirty-year-old millionaire’s daughter who works as a teacher, and Elijah Astor, her father’s close friend and deputy at the company. She arrives at the family lake house to recover after a broken engagement. He, forty-five and recently divorced after ten unhappy years of marriage, also arrives there to breathe a little. Their meeting begins in an awkward situation and quickly turns into a flirtatious game that blurs boundaries.

The book touches on several interesting subjects: the age gap, thirty versus forty-five, the fact that he is her father’s friend, the dynamic of a divorced man and a single woman, and the fact that the heroine is described as a curvy woman. But in practice, Kayla Grosse does not really deepen any of these. The main focus remains on the question of how her father will react.

And here comes the biggest drawback for me: out of 160 pages, almost a third is devoted to intimate scenes. They are certainly heated, and Elijah is definitely written as a dream man, but the feeling is that everything is too compressed. As if every page has to fit in another scenario, another location, another variation, until the story itself is pushed aside.

So what remains? A short summer romance, with a sexy silver fox, a little humor and a lot of steam. But not much beyond that.
